Undergraduate study

MSLE offers a wide range of disciplines for study at undergraduate level through both New Generation Degrees and specialist Land and Environment degrees.

All undergraduate applications for Semester 1 are managed through VTAC. Some undergraduate courses also accept mid-year entry.

You can increase your chances of selection through the Access Melbourne program. Access Melbourne can help you gain a place in a course, even if your ATAR is below the clearly-in rank (in some cases you may be guaranteed a place). For more information see the Access Melbourne website.

Study Abroad/Exchange

The University of Melbourne offers its coursework students the option to enrich their degree through studying at an overseas institution or with one of a large range of our international exchange partners. For more information on eligibility and how to apply see the Global Mobility website.

Honours Programs

MSLE accepts entry into our Honours programs for either Semester 1 or 2 commencement. We encourage you to contact Future Students Coordinator Erin Wilson to confirm your eligibility and to discuss supervisor and project availability before applying.

Please make your application online and submit an accompanying Honours Project Proposal to the MSLE Student Centre, located on the ground floor of Building 142, Parkville Campus.

Semester 1 applications are due no later than 18 November for 1st round offers and 28 January for Round 2. Later offers may still be accepted. For a Semester 2 commencement, applications are due no later than 31 July.

Postgraduate coursework study

Our graduate coursework offerings include a selection of graduate and postgraduate Certificates and Diplomas available within our Masters degrees. Entry is available for:

Local applications must be submitted by the 30 November for commencement the following February or 31 May for commencement the following July.

To have a greater chance of being considered for Commonwealth Supported Places and scholarships please apply early. If you wish to submit a late application, enquire first at the MSLE Student Centre.

Entry Requirements:

  • an undergraduate degree with at least H3 (65%) average in the final year, or
  • a graduate or postgraduate certificate in any discipline with at least H3 (65%) average, or
  • an honours degree in any discipline, or equivalent; and
  • a curriculum vitae or resume; and
  • two academic referee reports; and
  • a personal statement of up to 500 words.

Graduate Access Melbourne

Alternate entry criteria may apply if you have had personal circumstances that have had a sustained adverse effect on your undergraduate academic achievement or if you are a member of a specified group known to be under-represented in higher education.

Graduate Research

MSLE offers students research opportunities in the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Single Subject Study, Professional & Short courses

You can pursue study in many individual MSLE subjects, either with the assessment component or without. Information on the application process, including an application form, is available at Community Access Program.
