Each Research Domain refers to a broad theme, within which MSLE researchers are actively tackling the challenges and questions that face our environments and society now and into the future. These challenges include the increasing competition for scarce land, water, energy and nutrients, in the face of climate change, a rapidly growing world population and equally rapid depletion of biodiversity and other natural resources.
Our interdisciplinary approach applies scientific, social, political and economic perspectives to address the needs of both human communities and the natural environment.
We are a dynamic hub for research, with strong government and industry research support, funding and participation. Our academic staff undertake research in collaboration with partners across the University of Melbourne, Australia-wide and internationally through numerous Cooperative Research Centres and institutes.
